Pioneers Dropped Two Against Wilson

Chambersburg, PA- The Alfred State baseball team dropped both games of today's doubleheader against Wilson College, game one 10-7 and game two 9-4. The Pioneers fall to 3-4 on the year.

Game 1

Ryan Bailey got the start and pitched 7.1 innings. Bailey allowed 10 runs on 18 hits, while tallying three strikeouts.

At the plate, Caleb Walkers tallied a solo homerun, while Tyler Korsky went 2-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base. Bobby Sellers went 3-5 with an RBI and a stolen base.

The Pioneers got on the board first in their first at-bat. Tyler Petery had a leadoff double, then he would advance to third on a groundout. Then with one out, Korsky notched an RBI single for the 1-0 lead.

The Phoenix responded with three runs to take the lead. ASC followed by scoring two runs in their next at-bat. Walker leadoff with a solo blast to cut the lead to 3-2. Then with one out, Sellers singled up the middle, and Aidan Murphy reached on an error and advanced to second while Sellers went to third. Seller would score on a sac fly from Connor Kiefer to tie the game at 3-3.

Wilson was able to score five runs in the next few innings to take an 8-3 lead. The Pioneers scored four runs in the top of the sixth to cut the lead down. Devin Mersmann notched the leadoff walk and stole second a few pitches later. Sellers then tallied an RBI single to left field, he would also move into scoring position after stealing second two pitches later. Two batters later, Kiefer notched an RBI double to cut the lead down to 8-5. After a change of pitchers, Petery and Elijah Barinas got walked and Korsky followed with an RBI single. Then with runners on the corners, Jack Curabba notched and RBI single to left center to make it an 8-7 game.

Wilson was able to score two more runs in the bottom of the sixth and lead off the Pios to get the win.

Game 2

Jon White pitched a complete game, only allowing eight earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts.

Korsky had another good game at the plate going 2-3, while Barinas went 2-4 for two runs scored and an RBI.

In the first innings, the Pioneers put two runs on the board. Petery led off with a double to right center. Barinas would then notch an RBI single to take the 1-0 lead. Korsky followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Then Curabba stepped to the plate and got an RBI on a fielder's choice to take the 2-0 lead.

The Phoenix responded with two runs in the bottom half of the first and then four in the bottom of the third to take a 6-2 lead. ASC answered with two runs in the fourth to cut the lead back down to two, 6-4. With two outs, Petery got walked and Barinas followed with a single.  Both runners would advance on a wild pitch, before Korsky notched a two RBI single up the middle to make it a 6-4 game.

Wilson would go to hold off the Pios to hang on to win the game
