Pioneers Split The Day Against Wells

Aurora, NY – The Alfred State baseball team split todays AMCC doubleheader against Wells. Pioneers dropped game one 5-2, then won game two 4-2.

 

In game one the Pioneers threw two arms. Ryan Bailey suffered the loss in 5.1 innings, tallying 2 strikeouts, while Chris Baldwin pitched .1 inning. Jack Curabba finished 3-3 in this game with 1 RBI.

 

The Pioneers started the game with Tyler Petery being walked. A few batters later Tyler Korsky was walked. On the next at bat, Jack Curabba singled to right field to bring home Petery. The Express scored 3 runs to end the first with a 3-1 lead. In the third inning, Korsky was walked again followed by a single to right center that advanced Korsky to third. Both Korsky and Curabba stole bases bringing in a run for Alfred State. The Pioneers brought themselves with one, 3-2 at the end of three.

 

The Pioneers failed to find their rhythm and Wells scored a run in the 4th and the 6th inning to close the game 5-2 Wells.

 

In game two, Jon White pitched a complete 9.0 inning game, while tallying five strikeouts.

 

In the second inning with the bases loaded, Aidan Murphy doubled to right field for 3 RBI to get the party started for the Pioneers. After advancing to third on an out, Murphy scored on a wild pitch.

The Express scored two runs in the fifth inning but could not get any closer as the Pioneers took game two 4-2.
