Pioneer Tallied A Split At La Roche

Pittsburgh, PA- The Alfred State Baseball team came away with a split at La Roche, as they won game one 10-1, and fell in game two 4-1.

 

 

Ryan Bailey pitched a complete seven inning game scattering one run over four hits with 13 strikeouts. Jack Curabba went 3-4 with four RBIs, while Caleb Walker went 2-4 with four RBIs with both hits going over the fence.

 

The Pioneers got on the board first, scoring two runs in the first. Joshua Gardner got hit by a pitch to led off the game. Elijah Barinas followed with a double to right field. Two batters later, Curabba notched a two RBI single to center field for the 2-0 lead.

 

Alfred State followed with another two runs in the third. Curabba led off with a single, the Walker followed with a two run bomb to right center for the 4-0 lead.

 

Later in the fifth the Pioneers added two more runs to their lead. With one out, Tyler Petery hit a solo bomb to left field for the 5-1 lead. Two batters later, Connor Kiefer got walked and stole second a few pitches later. Kiefer would come home to score on an RBI double from Anthony Snyder, to make it a 6-1 game.

 

In the next Pioneer at-bat, ASC added four insurance runs to their lead. Gardner got hit by a pitch to lead off the sixth. Barinas and Tyler Korsky followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases, and Curabba notched a two RBI single to left field for the 8-1 lead. Two batters later, Walker sent his second ball over the right field fence to make it a 10-1 game. The Pioneers would hold off the Red Hawks to get the win.

 

In game two, The Red Hawks got their bats going late and held off the Pioneers offence to pick up the win.
