Wrestlers Wrap up Whitehill Duals

The Alfred State wrestling team took on RIT and Case Western in the second day of the Whitehill Duals at Lycoming. The Pioneers fell 48-6 to RIT and then lost a tight 30-25 match to Case Western.

Ryan Thierman (Portville) accounted for the lone points with a forfeit victory at 125 lbs. in the match vs. RIT.

In a back and forth match Versus Case Western, Thierman earned a 8-0 victory over Nate Lee, Brian Carr (Liverpool) won a 1-0 decision at 149 lbs. over Kenny Gironda, Kevin Thayer (Unatego) earned a forfeit victory at 157, Konnor Kremer (Horseheads) pinned Nick Tommas in 1:58 at 165, and Juan Nunez (Middletown) pinned Cito Balsells in 43 seconds at 197.

Messiah College won the overall championship in the event that featured 16 teams.

The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday at the Empire Wrestling Championships at Oneonta.
