Lady Pioneers Fall in Season Opener

The Alfred State women's soccer team fell 2-0 to New England College in their first contest of the 2014 season.  The game was part of day one action at the Potsdam College Cup.

NEC got on the board 21:54 into the contest when Jess Dowson found the back of the net. Jaycie Triandafilou scored with just over six minutes remaining in the 1st half to add an insurance goal.

The Pioneers could not get anything past Lady Pilgrim goalkeeper Tricia Sardagnola. Sardagnola made six saves to record the shutout.

New England College held a 16 to 13 shot advantage on the day.

Allison Danielak (Brockport) made five saves in her first collegiate start in goal.  Kaitlin Huyler (Jasper Troupsburg) led Alfred with five shots.

Alfred State battles Potsdam in day two of the College Cup at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
