Hat Trick Helps Houghton Past Lady Pioneers

Stephany Ellison recorded a hat trick as Houghton College defeated Alfred State 4-0 in a cross county battle on Tuesday. The Highlanders improve to 7-6-1 on the year while the Lady Pioneers wrap up the regular season with a 9-7-1 mark.

Ellison scored a pair of goals 1:01 apart in with under 15 minutes remaining in the 1st half to put the Highlanders in front.

Bailey Shattell scored in the 76th minute to add to the lead while Ellison capped the hat trick with a goal in the closing seconds of the game.

Houghton held a 25 to 8 shot advantage in the contest. Shawna Sprout made five saves to record the shutout while Allison Danielak (Brockport) made 12 saves for the Lady Pioneers.

The Lady Pioneers will now await the seeding for the USCAA National Championship Tournament. The official announcement on the seeding will be released on Monday Oct. 27th.
