Lady Pioneer Hop Past Canton

Six different Lady Pioneers scored as the Alfred State women's soccer team defeated SUNY Canton 8-1 on a picture perfect Sunday afternoon.  The win evens up Alfred State's record at 2-2.

Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) got the Lady Pioneers on the board in the 29th minute when she scored on a one-on-one with the goalie.  Her shot his the post and into the net.

With 22 seconds remaining in the half, Keri Teufel (Sachem) connected on a long pass to Chelsea Dunn (Newfane) who found the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

Alexis Flint (Arkport) made it 3-0 just under six minutes into the 2nd half when she capitalized after getting a nice crossing pass from Kaitlin Huyler (Jasper Troupsburg).

Muhleisen put the game out of reach and completed the hat trick with goals in the 61st and 63rd minute. Teufel was credited with her 2nd assist on the day on Muhlesien's second goal of the half.

Taylor Reisdorf (Warsaw) made it 6-0 in the 72nd minute after getting a long lead pass from McKenzie Miller (Belfast).

Fran Trombley netted her 3rd goal of the young season at 82:49 of the game when she scored on a penalty kick.

Stormi Kruger (Medina) and Huyler scored in the final three minutes to add to the Pioneers lead. Huyler was credited with the assists on Kruger's goal while Alyssa VanNostrand (Southern Cayuga) picked up the helper on Huyler's goal.

Alfred State held a 26 to 7 shot advantage (20 to 7 shots on goal). Allison Danielak (Brockport) earned her first collegiate victory in goal with a perfect 1st half. Morgan Schreiner (Spencerport) made six saves in the 2nd half.

The blue & gold, winners of two straight, return to action on Wednesday when they host Wells College at 6 p.m.
