Baseball: 2-15

The Pioneers split a doubleheader at Houghton in their only action of the week. Alfred took the opener 5-4 in 11 innings but fell 4-3 in the nightcap in eight innings.

Thomas Shofi (Carmel) led the Pioneers with a 3 for 6 day in the opener. His RBI double in the 11th proved to be the game-winning hit. Dan Woodward (Honeoye) finished 2 for 3 with a RBI while Austin Baker (Canisteo Greenwood) was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI. Kyle Kuzma allowed just five hits and no earned runs in eight innings of relief work to earn the victory.

Houghton scored three runs in the bottom of the 8th to rally for the win in the nightcap. Shofi was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 4 with a RBI. Brady Sass (Caledonia Mumford) struck out nine in seven innings of work but did not factor in the decision.

Lacrosse: 3-8

Aaron Buck (Churchville) scored six goals including the game-winner 24 seconds into overtime as the Pioneers defeated Franciscan 10-9 in their lone action of the week.

Buck led the Pioneers with six goals and an assist while Joe Johnson (Churchville) had two goals, Joe Wittmeyer (Hamburg) and Ryan Colgan (Warwick Valley) each had a goal, while Nicolas Covelli (Carmel) passed out two assists.

Ryan Amidon (Fayetteville Manlius) was stellar in net for Alfred State. He made 20 saves to record the victory. He made seven key saves in the 3rd quarter. 

Softball: 4-11

The Lady Pioneers split a pair at SUNY Delhi on Sunday. The Broncos took the opener 14-4 but the Pioneers rebounded with a 12-3 victory in game two.

Stormi Kruger (Medina) was 1 for 2 with a two-run double in the opener and kept the bat going with a 3 for 4, 6 RBI performance in game two. In game two, she collected a two-run triple, a two-run, single, and a two-run homer.

Claire Hartman (Alden) was 3 for 4 with a RBI while Courtney McDaniel (Arkport) drove home two with a double. Jordan Leonard (Lancaster) allowed four hits and three runs on the mound to earn the victory.

Outdoor Track & Field: Women - 15th in Region & 75th Nationally, Men: 29th in Region

The Pioneers did not compete this week due to the snowy, cold, and wet weather. They are slated to compete this week.
