Castiglia's Big Day Lifts Utica

Dominic Castiglia found the back of the net eight times as Utica defeated Alfred State 17-5 on Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers had five different players score in the contest.

After one quarter, Alfred State trailed 3-2 but Utica put together strong 2nd and 3rd quarters to put the game out of reach. UC outscored the blue & gold 6 to 1 in the 2nd and 6 to 2 in the 3rd. 

Castiglia scored eight times, Ryan Desveaux finished with three goals and four assists, and Brickman House finished with two goals and three assists to lead Utica. In total, seven different Pioneers scored in the contest.

Teddy Alvardo (Hilton) and AJ Soto (Churchville) each finished with a goal and an assist. Joe Johnson (Churchville), Branden Dickson (Bath), and Landon Drumm (Tully) all scored once.

Utica held 65 to 16 shot advantage in the contest. Ryan Amidon (Fayetteville Manlius) made 25 saves in net for Alfred State while Parker Smith made six saves for Utica.

The Pioneers continue their roadtrip on Saturday with a 2 p.m. at Franciscan (OH).
