Three 2nd Half Goals Rallies ESF past Lady Pioneers

SUNY ESF scored three 2nd half goals to erase a 3-2 deficit and earn a 5-3 victory over Alfred State on Sunday afternoon in a battle of two of the top teams in the USCAA. The #3 ranked Mighty Oaks improve to 8-1 on the year while the Lady Pioneers are now 8-4-1.

ESF jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two goals in the first twenty minutes of the contest. Bridget Cuddihy scored after getting a pass from Heather Carl at 4:15 and Carl scored fifteen minutes later when she beat the defense.

Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) cut the lead in half when she made a cross over move and scored on a shot to the top of the net. Kaitlyn Huyler (Jasper Troupsburg) was credited the assist.

Huyler tied it up in the final minute of the half when she headed in Anna Rath's (Medina) crossing pass.

1:12 into the 2nd half, the Lady Pioneers took the lead for the first time. Haley Vosburg (Fillmore) got around the edge and found the back of the net after getting a pass from Keri Teufel (Sachem East).

Cuddify tied it up in the 54th minute when her shot hit the crossbar and found its way into the net. Cuddify completed the hat trick and gave the Mighty Oaks the lead when she took advantage of a defensive miscue that gave her a one-on-one with the keeper.

Carl scored an insurace goal with 4:58 remaining in the contest after getting a direct kick from Lauren Archer.

ESF held a 17 to 14 shot advantage in the contest (13 to 9 shots on goal). Kiki Hilmer made six saves to earn the victory while Allison Danielak (Brockport) made eight saves for the Lady Pioneers.

Alfred State is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Cazenovia for a 1 p.m. contest.
