Lady Pioneers Earn Bid to USCAA Nationals

The Alfred State women's soccer team will head to Charleston, WV for the second straight season to compete in the USCAA National Championships. The Lady Pioneers will be the #4 seed and take on #5 Florida College.

Alfred State will enter the tournament with a 9-7-1 record. They are led offensively by Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond). Muhleisen has netted 19 goals and has two assists. Kaitlyn Huyler (Jasper Troupsburg) has 10 goals and nine assists, McKenzie Miller (Belfast) has eight goals and six assists, and Haley Vosburg (Fillmore) has seven goals and three assists. Defensively, Ashley Wood (Lorraine), Danielle Richardson (Hornell), and Alexis Flint (Arkport) have played solid in front of Allison Danielak (Brockport). Danielak has made 70 saves on the season.

Defending champion Maine Fort Kent is the top seed (12-2-1) followed by SUNY ESF (12-1), Daemen (3-11-1), Alfred State (9-7-1), Florida College (6-5-2), Carlow University (7-4), Christendom (10-4), Albany College of Pharmacy (9-4), West Virginia Tech (3-6-2), and Bryant & Stratton (6-6).

Alfred State is one of seven teams that will be returning to the nationals from the 2013 field. The Lady Pioneers played two in the national championship field, they defeated #10 Bryant & Stratton 4-0 but fell 5-3 to #2 SUNY ESF.

The Pioneers advanced all the way to the USCAA semifinals last year as the #5 seed. They defeated #4 SUNY ESF 4-1 and then fell 2-1 to Maine-Fort Kent.
