Pioneers Full of Treats in Regular Season Finale

The Alfred State volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 3-1 victory over Hilbert. The Pioneers improve to 11-16 on the year and have won four straight and six of their last seven.

After falling in a tight set 25-23 to the Hawks, the Pioneers poured it on with 25-15, 25-13, 25-21 victories to earn the victory.

Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) made the most of her final regular season game at Alfred State. The senior collected 19 kills, 12 digs, and four service aces. With her kill and dig totals she now has over 1,000 in each category (1,012 kills and 1,004 digs).

Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) had a big night with 20 kills and a .410 hitting percentage, Sarah Raichlin (Binghamton/Chenango Valley), passed out 44 assists, and Madison Webster (Corning) led the team with 27 assists. The blue & gold hit .243 on the night, served 17 aces, and collected 67 digs.

Ashley Repine led the Hawks with nine kills and 13 digs while Torianna LeWand passed out nine assists.

Prior to the game, the coaching staff recognized four seniors, Godfrey, Valerie Intini (Rochester/Eastridge), Samantha Tumolo (Manorville/Eastport South Manor), and Shannon Dwyer (Cutchogue/Mattituck) playing in their final regular season match. The PIoneers have won 89 games in the past four years.

On top of senior day, the volleyball program hosted their annual Pink Pride game in which they raised funds for Allegany County Cancer Services with a basket raffle, a Jar War competition, and t-shirt sales.

The Pioneers now shift their focus to the ACAA Tournament which will be held at Alfred State this weekend. The Pioneers take on the #1 seed Finlandia at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The other semifinal features #2 SUNY Canton taking on #3 Mills (CA) at 4 p.m. The finals will be Sunday at 11 a.m.
