Fletcher Breaks Pool Records, Men’s Swimming and Diving Remain Undefeated
Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ) broke two pool records in the Alfred State men's swimming and diving tri-meet sweep at Utica College on Saturday.
The Pioneers remain undefeated after beating Utica 184-24 and Nazareth 140-87 to move to 6-0 on the season. Their win over the Purple Eagles is a first in program history. Alfred State had not competed since Nov. 20 when they won at the Oberlin Invitational.
Fletcher placed first and set records in the 100-yard butterfly (54.23) and 100-yard backstroke (54.11) and also won the 200-yard IM (2:01.15).
Other first place finishers include Austin Miller (Hornell) in both diving events (158.85 & 176.50), Westin Perry (Canisteo Greenwood) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.29) and 500-yard freestyle (5:00.11), Jazz Widney (Tulsa, OK) in the 50-yard freestyle (22.79) and Stuart Yates (Naples) in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.90).
Perry, Riley Hoyt (Tulsa, OK), Widney and Parker Brod (East Aurora) won the 200-yard medley relay (1:39.52).
The Pioneers are back in the pool on Wednesday, Jan. 19 for an AMCC tri-meet matchup with Medaille College and Pitt-Bradford.
