Trio of Pioneers Earn AMCC Honors

Three members of the Alfred State swimming and diving team were honored by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. Rebecca Stevens (Wellsville) and Nick Beach (Canandaigua) were named Divers of the Week while Alley Sell (Hanover, PA) earned swimmer of the week honors.

Stevens won both the 1 m and 3 m competition as the Pioneer Invitational on Friday. Her score of 329.33 set a new school record in the NCAA Era in the 1 m while she scored 321.90 in the 3 m. She placed 6th in the 1 m (309.55) and 6th in the 3 m (281.35) at Ithaca on Sunday.

Beach won both and set new NCAA era records in the 1 m and 3 m diving competition at the Pioneer Invitational. He won the 1 m with a score of 415.43 and the 3 m with a score of 425.93. At Ithaca he place 2nd in both events. He scored 365.40 in the 1 m and 327.95 in the 3 m. 

Sell won every event (8) she was entered in this weekend. At the Pioneer Invitational she won the 100 breast (1:12.81) and the 500 free (5:52.43) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay (2:06.02), and 800 free relay (9:42.86). Her performance in the 500 free is a new Alfred State NCAA Era record. At Pitt Bradford she won the 200 fly (2:33.71), the 200 breast (2:40.72), and the 400 IM (5:15.02). She was also part of the winning 200 medley relay (2:03.69).

This is the second time that Stevens and Sell have been honored by the AMCC.

The blue & gold wrap up their regular season of competition on Saturday when they travel to the Geneseo Invitational.
