Pioneers Could Not Over Come Third Quarter Rally

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Women's Basketball fell to SUNY Canton 73-43. The Pioneers drop to 0-5 on the year.

The Pioneers were led by Anna Merry who scored 11 points. Taylor Benjamin and Jaiden Williams each scored nine points, while Benjamin also tallied six rebounds. Taylor Searle scored seven points and grabbed a new career-high of 10 rebounds.

Benjamin got the Pioneers on the board with a layup and Merry followed with a three to tie the game at 5-5. The Roos would go on a 15-3 run before Sarah Somers made a layup to end the run. On the next Pioneers possession, Merry knocked down another three to make it a seven-point game 20-13.

In the second quarter, Canton went on a 13-5 run before Williams knocked down a jumper to stop the run. A few minutes later, Benjamin put in a layup to in the half with the score 38-22.

Canton came out of the half and outscored the Pioneers 21-4 in the third as they went on to win the game.
