Allison Park, PA- The Alfred State women's basketball team fell to La Roche 80-48. The Pioneers had two players in double figures as they dropped to 1-7 on the season.
Sarah Somers was the leading scorer as she put in 17 points to go along with her five rebounds. Taylor Benjamin had a good game, scoring 15 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
Benjamin scored the games first bucket as she hit a three. A few plays later, Somers and Benjamin added layups for the 7-5 lead. Benjamin would hit another three, before Jenna George and Jessica Harris added layups before the quarter came to a close.
In the second quarter, the Red Hawks went on a run to take control of the game. From there, La Roche was able to hold off the Pioneers attack to secure the win.
