Late Rally Wasn’t Enough To Take Down Panthers

Bradford, PA – The Alfred State women's basketball team dropped a tough battle to Pitt-Bradford 73-61. The Pioneers drop to 3-11 overall and 2-5 in conference play.

 

Three pioneers scored in double figures as Sarah Somers led the way with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Taylor Searle scored 14 points and Taylor Benjamin had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Pitt-Bradford got the scoring started early, going on a run in the first quarter that opened them up to a 22-12 lead at the end of the quarter. Baskets by Searle early in the second quarter would keep Alfred State in the game as the deficit was cut to 8 points by halftime.

 

In the third quarter Somers and Benjamin would help lead Alfred State on a run that cut the lead to 54-49 following a Benjamin layup. The Pioneers stilled trailed 56-52 entering the 4th quarter.

 

The Panthers would go on a late run scoring 9 points in the last 2 minutes of the contest to ensure the victory.
