Miraglia and Fitzgerald Win a Pair at Mel Berry Duals

Anthony Miraglia (Byron Bergen) and Kyle Fitzgerald (South Lewis) each won a pair of matches as Alfred State competed at the Mel Berry Duals at Thiel College. 

In a 30-22 loss to Mercyhurst North East, Miraglia got the Pioneers on the board with a 11-2 major decision over Dylan Muscarella at 149 lbs. Loujerry Etienne (Brooklyn/New Visions) and Alijah Carter (Manorville/ Eastport South Manor) got forfeit wins at 165 and 174 but the Pioneers could not get any closer than 18-16. Fitzgerald pinned Reagan Soledad in the final match in 2:27 to make it 30-22.

Miraglia got the Pioneers on the board again in a 37-13 loss to the hosts, Thiel. He earned a 12-4 major decision over Hunter Martz to make it 15-4. Blake Ilges (Canisteo Greenwood) picked up a win at 174 with a 11-10 win over Cameron Prebble. Fitzgerald wrapped up the day with his second pin of the day. In 4:56 he was able to pin Gavin Colligan.

The Pioneers head to Scranton next Saturday for their final road dual of the season. Action is slated for 1 p.m.
