Three Pioneers Advance To The Semi-Finals At The New Standard Invite

York, PA- The Alfred State men's wrestling team is sitting in seventh place at the end of day one with 66 points. The Pioneers will have three in the semi-finals, and two in the blood rounds as action continues tomorrow morning.

Brent Perry is in the 197 semifinals with a 2-0 day. He opened the day with a second period fall over Connor Fritsch (Ursinus). Then he got a 7-2 decision win over Grant Mathias (USMMA). Perry will be taking on Dylan Harr in the morning with a chance of championship match on the line.

In the 184 bracket, Sean Malenfant is still alive with three straight first period falls. He took down Eamonn Callaghan (Ithaca) with a fall in 2:25. In his next match, Malenfant got the 1:55 fall over Luca Romasco (York). In his final match of the day, he took down Nicholas Hall (Delaware Valley) in 1:17 to advance to the semifinals. Malenfant will be taking on Rylan Moose in the morning.

13th ranked Zach Levey is the final Pioneer in the semifinals. In the 133 bracket, he notched a second period fall over Caleb Olgers (Apprentice). He would follow with a first period fall over Temuujin Erdentuya (Marymount), before getting a major decision win over Kyle Nase (TCNJ) to advance to the semifinals. Levey's first match will be against 10th ranked Luke Hoerle of Stevens.

Looking at the blood rounds, Jacob Steele and Nick Barrett will both be wrestling for third in the 285 bracket tomorrow.
