Five Wrestlers Garnered Scholar All-American Honors
Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Men's Wrestling had five guys garnered Scholar All-American honors, while the team finished 25th with a 3.515 GPA. Both are new programs best.
Blake Ilges takes home this honor for the fourth time. Sean Malenfant and Zack Levey became two honorees. While Nick Barrett and Aaron Johnson earned Scholar All American honors for the first time in their career.
This is the second time in three years the team the team earned this honor, the last time was in 2022 when the team came in 30th place. The program has tallied 22 individual Scholar All-American honorees in the past four years.
To earn this status individuals, need to achieve both academic and wrestling criteria. They need to either place at the NCAA Regionals or win two thirds of their matches while having a 3.2 cumulative GPA or 3.2 GPA from the previous 2 semesters.
