Track Team Impressive at Hamilton

The Alfred State indoor track & field team had an impressive showing at the Hamilton College Continental Invitational.  The Pioneers won one event and had four 2nd place finishes.

The 4x200 relay team of Desmond Chambers (Gates Chili), Josiah Thomas (Rochester/Marshall), Zach Woodard (South Jefferson), and Khris Greggs (Rochester/Aquinas) qualified for the ECAC Championships in Boston, MA with a 2nd place finish.  They crossed the finish line in 1:33.78 which is the 2nd best performance in school history.

Chambers won the 60 m dash in 7.11 while Thomas was 2nd in the long jump (6.36 m) and the triple jump (14.07 m).  Jordan Friedman (Clarkstown South) was 2nd in the pole vault with a leap of 4.15 m.

Andrew Jones (Milford) was 9th in the weight throw (13.79 m) while Trevor Stiles (Hornell) was 12th in the 500 m (1:13.05).

On the women's side Dayonna Holmes (Rochester/Charlotte) was 6th in the 500 m (1:26.49) and Brianna Brynes (Jordan Elbridge) was 7th in the same event (1:29.13).

The Pioneers were one of over 15 schools that competed in the non-scoring event.

Alfred State travels to the Brockport Invitational next weekend.
