Pioneers Record Thirteen Top Eight Finishes at RIT

The Alfred State track & field team had thirteen top eight finishes at the RIT Orange and Brown Invitational on Friday evening.  The Pioneers were one of twelve teams in the competition.

Desmond Chambers (Rochester/Gates Chili) recorded a pair of 2nd place finishes.  He qualified for ECAC's in the 60 with a 2nd place finish (7.09) and finished 2nd in the long jump (6.80 m).

Josiah Thomas (John Marshall) was 2nd in the triple jump (14.22 m) which puts him 3rd all-time in the record book.  Jordan Friedman (Clarkstown South) finished 4th in the pole vault (4.40 m - T 4th in record book), Richard Krouse (Eden) was 4th in the high jump (1.88 m), and Leandro DelRosario (Brooklyn/Thomas Edison) was 5th in the shot put (13.89 m - T 9th in record book). James Westman (Fonda Fultonville) was 8th in the 3,000 (9:41.71).

The 4x400 relay team of Khris Greggs (Rochester/Aquinas), Thomas, Zach Woodard (South Jefferson), and Logan Phillips (Genesee Valley) were 5th in 3:30.71 (5th all time) while the 4x200 relay team was 6th (1:43.12).

On the women's side the 4x200 relay team recorded the 2nd fastest time in school history. The team of Annaliese Corrao (Grand Island), Dayonna Holmes (Rochester/Charlotte), Madison McDonald (Lansing), and Brianna Brynes (Jordan Elbridge) finished 4th in 1:53.90.

Holmes was also 6th in the 200 (27.14) and Brynes was 7th in the 500 (1:27.00).

The Pioneers return to action next at the New York State Championships on Friday.  The two day meet will be held at St. Lawrence.
