Track has Strong Showing at U of Rochester

The Alfred State track & field team had a strong showing at the University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon.  The Pioneers recorded 11 top three finishes on a chilly day of competition.

Dane Dechow (Randolph) won the 400 hurdles (56.30), Leandro DelRosario (Brooklyn/Thomas Edison) won the shot put (13.42 m), Brandon Teboe (Falconcer) won the pole vault (4.21 m), and Josiah Thomas (Rochester/Marshall) won the long jump (13.32 m).  Thomas was also 3rd i nthe triple jump (6.15 m).

Dechow, Thomas, Zach Woodard (South Jefferson), and Nate Andres (Pioneer) teamed to win the 4x400 relay in 3:24.95.  Thomas and Woodard teamed with Desmond Chambers (Gates Chili) and John Adewumi (Brooklyn, NJ) for a 2nd place finish in the 4x100.

Jordan Friedman (Clarkstown South) was 2nd in the pole vault (4.06 m), Adewumi was 3rd in the 100 m (11.29) and 6th in the triple jump (12.41 m), and Andres was 3rd in the 400 (52.29). Woodard was 4th in the 200 (22.97), Logan Phillips (Genesee Valley) was 6th in the 400 hurdles (1:03.68), Wesley Hayes (North Rose Wolcott) was 6th in the shot put (11.25 m), and Trevor Stiles (Hornell) was 8th in the 800 (2:03.54).

The women's 4x400 relay team of Brianna Brynes (Jordan Elbridge), Madison McDonald (Lansing), Dayonna Holmes (Rochester/Charlotte), and Diane Sill (Kendall) won in 4:22.85 and finished 4th in the 4x100 (51.54).

Holmes was 2nd in the 200 (26.41) and Sill was 3rd in the 400 hurdles (1:10.23).

The Pioneers will send athletes to the NYS Championship multi event on Sunday.  The two-day competition will be held at RIT.
