Pioneer Men Finish 7th at NYS Championships

The Alfred State men's indoor track and field team finished 7th out of 13 teams at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Championships held at St. Lawrence University.

Josiah Thomas (Rochester/John Marshall) won the triple jump competition to lead the way for the Pioneers.  His jump of 14.31 m was tops in the competition and 3rd best in school history.

Thomas also was part of the 6th place 4x400 relay team that finished in 3:29.31.  The performance by Thomas, Khris Greggs (Rochester/Aquinas), Zach Woodward (Adams Center/South Jefferson), and Logan Phillips (Genesee Valley) is 5th fastest in school history.

Andrew Jones (Milford) became 2nd in the all-time record book with a 6th place finish in the weight thro with a toss of 15.10 m.

Richard Krouse (Eden) was 6th in the high jump (1.93 m), Desmond Chambers (Rochester/Gates Chili) was 6th in the 60 m dash (7.14), and Woodard was 7th in the 60 (7.24).

The Pioneers finished with 51 points in the two-day competition.  Host St. Lawrence won the men's title over RPI by two points.

The women's 4x800 relay team of Mikaela Shaw (Attica), Brianna Brynes (Jordan Elbridge), Sarah Wise (Avoca), and Molly Dempsey (Wellsville) ran the 3rd fastest time in school history (10:47.90.)

A contingent of Pioneers will next travel to the ECAC Championships in Boston, MA next Friday and Saturday.
