Chambers Wins Long Jump at NYS Championships

Desmond Chambers (Rochester/Gates Chili) won the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Championship in the long jump to lead Alfred State in day one of the two day competition.

Chambers tied the Newell Field House record and won the long jump competition with a leap of 7.07 m.  Chambers was also part of the 4th place 4x200 relay that finished in 1:32.70.  In the 4x200 he teammed with Zach Woodard (Adams Center/South Jefferson), Josiah Thomas (Rochester/John Marshall), and Khris Greggs (Rochester/Aquinas).

Jordan Friedman (Clarkstown South) finsihed 4th in the pole vault (4.25 m) while Brandon Teboe (Jamestown/Falconer) was 5th (4.10 m).  Leandro DelRosario (Brooklyn/Thomas Edison) finished 8th in the shot put with a toss of 13.65 m.

In the prelims of the 60 m dash, Chambers and Woodard advanced to Saturday's final. Chambers was 6th in 7.14 and Woodard was 8th in 7.21.

On the women's side, the 4x200 relay, Madison McDonald (Lansing), Annaliese Corrao (Grand Island), Dayonna Holmes (Rochester/Charlotte), and Brianna Byrnes (Jordan Elbridge) qualified for the ECAC Championships and set a new school record finishing in 1:52.08

The distance medley relay team of Mikaela Shaw (Attica), Brynes, Sarah Wise (Avoca), and Molly Dempsey (Wellsville) registered the program's 8th fastest time in 14:44.90.
