Pioneers in 9th after Day One of NYS Championships

The Alfred State men's track and field team sits in 9th place after day one action at the New York State Championships held at St. John Fisher.  The men scored 7 points thus far.

Brandon Teboe (Falconer) was 4th in the pole vault with a leap of 4.10 m.  The 4x800 relay team of Trevor Stiles (Hornell), Kyle Jones (Wilson), Dominic Freudenvoll (Greece Arcadia), and James Westman (Fonda Fultonville) raced to a 7th place finish in 8:18.01.  In the hammer throw, Andy Jones (Milfrod) finished 12th with a personal record throw of 43.49 m.

In the preliminary 400 hurdle race, Dane Dechow (Randolph) won his heat and was the 3rd fastest competitor finishing in 56.78 to advance to Saturday's finals.

On the women's side Dayonna Holmes (Charlotte) finished 10th in the 200 prelims (27.17) while Diane Sill (Kendall) was 11th in the 400 hurdles prelims (1:11.5).

Action continues at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the competition featuring 13 different colleges.
