Saxton 6th after Day One of NYS Decathlon

Skyler Saxton (Scio) sits in 6th place after day one of competition at the NYS Championship Decathlon.  Saxon has 2,828 points through the first five events.

Saxton scored his most points in the 100 m dash.  He ran the race in 11.68 to earn 715 points. He leapt 1.76 m to earn 602 points and ran the 400 in 55.50 to earn 579 points.  His jump of 5.46 m in the long jump was worth 473 points and his throw of 9.56 m earned 459 points.

Teammate Ryan Seward (Pembroke) is in 15th with 1,995 points.  He scored his most points in the 100 m dash.  He scored 523 points with his time of 12.70.  He also scored 408 points in the 400 with a time of 1:00.14.

In the women's heptathlon, Sarah Wise (Avoca) sits in 10th place after the first day.  She has scored 1,525 points thus far with her performance in the 200 (29.13) netting her 545 points.  She scored 379 points in the high jump with a leap of 1.27 m., 318 points in the shot put with a throw of 6.73 m, and 283 points in the 100 hurdles after finishing in 20.24.

Day two of the NYS Multi event will be held on Monday at RIT.
