Gartland and LoTemple Named ICBL Players of the Week

A pair of Alfred State baseball teammates, AJ Gartland and Justin LoTemple, earned Player of the Weeek honors following solid performances in the Interstate Collegiate Baseball League. 

Gartland struck out 13 as he threw six shutout innings in the Snow Cats 4-0 win last Tuesday. He allowed just one hit in the outing and retired the first 11 batters of the game and the final seven batters he faced. On the season, Gartland has appeared in three games and pitched 11 innings. He is 2-0 with a 0.63 ERA. He allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out 19 batters.

LoTemple was 4 for 8 with two doubles as he helped his team the Monarchs to a 3-1 week. He also drew five walks on the week. His best game came last Wednesday when he was 3 for 4 with a double, two RBI, and three runs scored in a 14-6 victory. On the year, he is hitting .385 (5 for 13) with three doubles, 4 RBI, and six walks drawn.

 

Pioneer teammate Amaury Samalot was on the honorable mention list for hitters after hitting .429 with 5 RBI.
