Brockport Blanks Pioneers

Dan Andrews and Joe Germinerio each scored three times as Brockport spoiled Alfred State's home opener with a 49-0 victory. The Eagles improve to 1-1 on the year.

After a scoreless 1st quarter, Germinerio scored his first of three rushing touchdowns by rushing in from eight yards out with 13:46 remaining in the 2nd quarter. Dan Andrews gave the Eagles a 14-0 lead heading into halftime when he dove in from one-yard out.

In the 3rd, Andrews caught a 11-yard TD pass from Brian McKean and Germinerio rushed in from nine yards out while in the 4th, Andrews caught a 49-yard scoring pass from McKean and Germinerio dashed in from 63-yards out. Ricky Lipani capped the scoring in the final minute when he returned a fumble 16-yards for a score.

Andrews finished the day with 76 yards rushing on 22 carries and 73 yards receiving on three catches. Germinerio rushed for 96 yards on eight carries and was 5 for 6 passing. McKean finished the night 12 for 14 for 164 yards.

Josh Ashley (Brooklyn/Grand Street) caught three passes for 61 yards while Dante Jordan (Bronx/HS for Law & Public Service) caught two passes for 53 yards. Hezekiah Williamson (AlbanY) carried the ball 13 times for 45 yards. Dashon Turner (West Genesee) finished the night 10 for 20 for 128 yards.

Jason Howard led Brockport with six tackles while Terry McDonald finished with five. The Eagles defense held the Pioneers to 195 yards on the day.

Steven Hubick (Fountain Hills, AZ) led the Pioneer defense with eight tackles while Ke'Shawn Pettway (Buffalo/Hutch Tech), Justin Bocchino (Hyde Park/FD Roosevelt), Kaieel Ward (Brooklyn/Thomas Jefferson), John Lauretti (Seaford), and Carlisle Philip (Brooklyn/South Shore) all had seven.

Brockport picked up 21 1st downs on the day and finished the day with 401 yards of offense. Alfred State was only 2 of 14 on 3rd downs and was slowed down by 11 penalties. 

The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday when they host the University of Rochester. Opening kickoff is at 1 p.m.
