McGee, Israel, and Cole Leads Panthers to Victory

The offensive trio of Mike McGee, Josiah Israel, and Keelan Cole led Kentucky Wesleyan to a 52-7 victory over Alfred State in the home finale for the Pioneers.

McGee passed for 277 yards and five scores, Israel rushed for 237 yards on 21 carries and twoscores, and Cole caught five passes for 141 yards and two scores.

Kentucky Wesleyan scored the lone points in the 1st quarter on a 33-yard field goal by Cole Woodburn. McGee tossed to TD passes, 70 yards to Cole and 31-yards to Travion Tucker, in the 2nd quarter to make it 17-0 at halftime.

McGee threw two touchdown passes in the 3rd quarter and added his 5th touchdown pass of the day early in the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach. He connected with Trey Waltermire on a 13-yard score, Cole on a 29-yard pass play, and Tucker on a 20-yard score.

Israel broke two long TD runs in the 4th quarter (58-yards and 50-yards) to cap the Panthers scoring. Sandwiched in between Israel's rushing scores, Khris Greggs (Rochester/Aquinas) caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Eli Frantz (Hubert, NC).

Dashown Wilson (Bronx/Dewitt Clinton) led Alfred State with 53 yards rushing on 11 carries while Frantz rushed for 42 yards and Hezekiah Williamson (Albany) had 40 yards. Josh Ashley (Brooklyn/Grand Street Campus) caught three passes for 60 yards.

The Kentucky Wesleyan defense recorded six sacks, intercepted three passes, and recovered a fumble. Vasco Billberry led the Panthers with nine tackles and a sack while Curtis Johnson had two sacks and Travell Brown picked off two passes.

John Lauretti (Seaford) led the Pioneer defense with nine tackles while Brandon Davis (Lansing) had eight. Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua) and Steven Hubick (Fountain Hills, AZ) each chipped in seven tackles.

Kentucky Wesleyan gained 551 totals yards compared to Alfred State's 239. The Pioneers were just 1 of 16 on 3rd down and held the Panthers to just 3 of 12. Kentucky Wesleyan did convert two touchdown passes on 4th down.

The blue & gold close out the season with a pair of road contests. The first coming next weekend at Maranatha Baptist (WI) with a 1 p.m. EST (12 p.m. CST) kickoff.
