The Alfred State football team renewed their rivalry with longtime NJCAA opponent Dean College on Saturday. The Bulldogs took the first NCAA contest between the two schools 47-19.

Dean scored on their opening drive but Alfred State answered back on their next drive when Hezekiah Williamson (Albany/Albany) scored from 10-yards out to make it 7-6 (PAT was blocked).

The Bulldogs scored the next 33 points over the next 2.5 quarters to build a 40-6 lead. Dean took advantage of five Pioneer turnovers to take control of the game.

Khris Greggs (Rochester/Aquinas) caught a 10-yard TD pass from Dashon Turner (West Genesee) in the 4th quarter and after another Dean TD, he connected with Ricky Hagins (Rochester/Eastridge) on a 15-yard scoring play.

Turner was 20 for 33 for 161 yards, Hagins had 35 yards receiving on three catches, and Greggs caught five passes for 35 yards. Greggs also had 126 kick return yards.

Steven Hubick (Fountain Hills, AZ) led the defense with 10 tackles and a sack. Brandon Davis (Lansing) added eight tackles.

Alfred State is back in action next weekend when they host Buffalo State. Opening kickoff of the 2016 Homecoming game is slated for 1 p.m.
