Lady Pioneers Stung by Hornets

Broome CC pitching shut down the Alfred State offense as the Hornets swept a Region III Division III doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.  The Hornets won by scores of 8-0 and 2-0.

In the opener, BCC scored four in the 3rd to take a 5-0 lead and never looked back.  Laura Knight tossed a three-hitter and struck out six to earn the complete game victory.  Aubri Mosier (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) was 2 for 3 for the Lady Pioneers.

The nightcap proved to be a pitching dual between Clarissa Swain (Dansville) and Kelsey Ganne.  BCC scored a run in the 1st which proved to be enough for Ganne.  Ganne limited Alfred to just three hits and two walks while striking out 15.  Swain allowed just the two runs in seven innings of work.  She allowed eight hits, walked seven, and struck out six.  Mosier collected multiple hits again finishing 2 for 3 with a long double.

The blue & gold (4-20, 3-14) head to Corning CC on Thursday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader with the Lady Red Barons.
