Four players finished in double figures as the Alfred State women's basketball team tangled with Maine Fort Kent. The Bengals used a strong 1st half as they defeated the Pioneers 83-60.
UMFK hit seven three-pointers in the 1st half and scored 26 points in each quarter and built a 52-28 lead. The Pioneers and Bengals battled back and forth in the 2nd half as Alfred State held a slight 32-31 advantage.
Kelsey Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) led the Pioneers quartet in double-figures with 16 points. Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) finished with 16 points and eight assists, Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) had 11 points and six boards, and Emily Kelley (Andover) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.
Trinity Washington led the Bengals (18-3) with 25 points (5 for 9 from three) while Tajaheray McMahan finished with 14 points, 12 assists, and six rebounds.
The Pioneers hit the road on Wednesday when they take on SUNY Delhi at 6 p.m.
