Natalie Fortna slipped a shot into the back of the net 5:32 into the 1st overtime to lift Waynesburg to a 1-0 win over Alfred State on Friday. The Yellowjackets are 1-0 on the year while the Pioneers are 1-1.
Ciara Scott and Allison Danielak (Brockport) each made key saves for their teams to keep the game scoreless through regulation. Scott made seven saves to record the shutout victory. Danielak made ten saves for the Lady Pioneers.
With 4:28 left in the 1st OT, Nikki Davis sent a free kick across the field that bounced around and found the foot of Fortna who was able to score the game-winner.
Waynesburg outshot Alfred State 15-10 in the contest (11 to 7 shots on goal).
Alfred State will look to rebound on Saturday when they host Wells College at 5 p.m.
