Three Straight for Lady Pioneers

The Alfred State women's soccer team won their third straight contest with a 3-2 victory over Bryant & Stratton on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Pioneers improve to 7-2-1 on the year.

Haley Russell (Keshequa) scored in the 6th minute after getting a pass from Keri Teufel (Sachem East) to give the Lady Pioneers the quick lead. Kai Jacobs tied it up in the 42nd minute for the Bobacats but Russell answered right back with her 4th of the season 2:19 later to give the Lady Pioneers the lead for good. Julia Yanarella (Roy Ketcham) picked up the assist.

Allison Vargeson (Addison) made it 3-1 5:13 into the 2nd half after getting a pass from Teufel. Bryant & Stratton scored on a penalty kick by Nicolette Weir with under four minutes left but could not get any closer.

Allison Danielak (Brockport) made six saves to the record the victory.

Alfred State entered the contest ranked #8 in the lastest USCAA poll while Bryant & Stratton was ranked #3. The Lady Pioneers have beaten three straight USCAA foes in the top 20.

The blue & gold return to action on Thursday when they travel to NCAA DIII #6 ranked William Smith for a 7:30 p.m. start.
