Four Pioneers Honored by USCAA

Four Alfred State athletes have been honored by the USCAA. Football players Jason McMahon (Chautauqua Lake/Mayville) and Zack Goodwin (Pougkeepsie/FD Roosevelt) and soccer goalies Allison Danielak (Brockport) and Kenneth Allport (Hilton) have been named players of the week.

McMahon has earned USCAA offensive football player of the week honors. McMahon came off the bench and went 16-23, 172 yards, and 2 touchdowns against William Paterson. McMahon finished the game with nearly a 70 percent completion percentage in the home opening loss.

Goodwin is the USCAA football special teams player of the week.  Goodwin went 2-for-2 in extra points for the Pioneers and also made 7 punts for a total of 253 yards. He pinned one inside the oppositions 20 yard line and his longest punt of the day went for 42 yards. Goodwin also sent to kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.

Danielak has earned this week’s USCAA women’s soccer goalie of the week honor. Danielak started three games for the Pioneers this past week and gave up only two goals while making 19 saves for her team. She had one shutout as Alfred State went 2-1 in those games.

USCAA men's soccer goalie of the week went Allport. Allport played all three games this past week and was a key player for the team as they won two of their three games. The freshman keeper recorded 20 saves and one shutout on the week while allowing only three in net.
