Lady Pioneers Dominate in Season Finale

The Alfred State women's soccer team dominated Maine Machias in a 3-0 victory in the USCAA National Championship consolation game to close out their season. The Lady Pioneers finish the year with a 9-8-1 record.

The blue & gold controlled play from the start but did not find the back of the net until 34:48 when Charlotte Rosvold (Spencer Van Etten) got them on the board.

The Lady Pioneers put the game out of reach in a span of 32 seconds early in the 2nd half. Emily Wolf (Hornell) scored on a 35 yard free kick that she was able to bend into the top left corner 57:52 into the game. 32 seconds senior Allison Vargeson (Addison) found the top right corner to record her third goal of the year.

Alfred State outshot the Clippers 25 to 0 in the contest. Allison Danielak (Brockport) and Morgan Schreiner (Spencerport) both played a half in net to record the shutout.

The game was the final contest for the Lady Pioneers three seniors, Anna Rath (Medina), Keri Teufel (Sachem East), and Vargeson. The trio helped Alfred State to three straight USCAA Championships. The blue & gold is 30-22-4 overall in the past three years.
