Lady Pioneers Fall in Wild One

The Alfred State women's soccer team lost a wild 4-3 contest at Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Pioneers fall to 4-2-1 on the season.

Pitt-Bradford got on the board first in the 25th minute when Kaitlyn Donnelly found the back of the net. Just over 12 minutes later, Abby Celesky made it 2-0 when she scored on a rebound goal.

Haley Vosburg (Fillmore) cut the lead in half with 6:26 remaining in the half.

The Lady Pioneers came out of the break fast. Allison Vargeson (Addison) tied it up 1:59 into the 2nd half when she connected on a rebound. Haley Russell (Keshequa) gave the blue & gold the 4-3 lead 1:32 later. Keri Teufel (Sachem East) was credited with both assists.

The Panthers answered right back. Jamie Christensen scored 45 seconds later on a header off a corner from Delaney Houtz. Just under three minutes later ,Celesky scored what proved to be the game-winner when she scored on a breakaway.

The Panthers held a 16 to 13 shot advantage in the contest. Sarah Dailey made four saves for UPB while Allison Danielak (Brockport) made four for the Lady Pioneers.

Alfred State has a week off before hosting Carlow next Saturday at Pioneer Stadium at 2 p.m.
