Three Pioneers Tallied Double-Doubles In Match Against Behrend

Erie, PA- Racquel Gerstenberger, Alayna Tomlinson, and Nayomie Ferrer Santiago all tallied double-doubles as Alfred State fell to Penn State Behrend 3-1 (11-25, 25-22, 17-25, 13-25). ASC falls to 9-7 on the season and 2-1 against conference foes.

Gerstenberger led the way with 15 kills and 19 digs. Tomlinson also had a good game, tallying 14 kills and 14 digs. Ferrer ended the night with 41 assists and 19 digs, while Adeline Milligan came away with 10 digs.

The Lions opened the match by taking the first set, the Pioneers answered in the second set. ASC open the set two scoring four straight points. Caitlyn Gilman tallied a kill and a solo block, while Gabriella Thurmond and Gerstenberger added kills. The Lions rallied to take a 9-6 lead, before Tomlinson and Ferrer notched kills to tie the set at 9-9. ASC would then go on a 5-2 run to regain the lead. On that run, Gerstenberger tallied two kills, while Erin Gregoire, Ferrer, and Gilman added a kill each. A few plays later after some back-and-forth action, Gerstenberger notched back-to-back kills to take the set and tie the match at 1-1.

Behrend would rally and take the next two sets to win the match. The Pioneers are back on the road this weekend as they head to La Roche on Saturday October 14th.
