Pioneers Tally Eighth Sweep Of The Season

Alfred, NY- Alfred State moves to 14-8 as they swept Pitt Bradford 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-17). The Pioneers now hold a 6-2 record against AMCC foes.

Racquel Gerstenberger led the way with double digit kill numbers with 11. Nayomie Ferrer Santiago added 28 assists, while Alayna Tomlinson and Adeline Milligan tallied 13 digs each.

In the first set, the Pioneers gained the lead after a 7-2 run that forced a Panther timeout, 19-14. Following the timeout, Gerstenberger put in two kills and two aces to win the set. Caitlyn Gilman and Tomlinson also added kills on that run.

Set two opened with a 5-1 run. Ferrer tallied two aces and Gilman and Gerstenberger added a kill each. The Panthers went on a run of their own to take a 7-6. Following in error, Emma Petrichick notched back-to-back aces to regain the lead and force a PSB timeout. From there the Pioneers went on another 5-1 run to take control of the set and win 25-15.

 Alfred State carried that momentum into set three going on multiple 5-0 and 3-0 runs to take the set 25-17. The Pioneers will be back home this Saturday as they host a Tri-Match with Mt. Aloysius and Elmira.
