The Alfred State Pioneers defeated the Buffalo State Bengals 81-79. Paris Jamison (Brooklyn, NY / East Side) hit a game-winning turnaround jumper as time expired to seal the Alfred State victory.
Alfred State led for most of the game. Heading into the locker room at halftime up 42-35, the Blue and Gold trailed for only 20 seconds in the entire first half. The second half was back and forth, both teams were trading baskets, with the Pioneers keeping a small lead over Buffalo State. At the 13:52 mark of the second half, Alfred State found themselves down 54-52. An Alfred State run gave the Pioneers a lead with 2:40 left. The Pioneers were up eight points when Buffalo State went on a run of their own to cut the Pioneer lead to 78-76. Isaiah Kostyal-Larrier (Poughkeepsie, NY / Arlington) found himself at the line with 49 seconds left and a two-point Alfred lead. Kostyal Larrier went 1-2 from the stripe and Buffalo State called a timeout down three points. The Bengals converted on their three-pointer to tie the game at 79 with 26 seconds left. A Pioneer timeout led to their final possession. A Paris Jamison turnaround free-throw line jumper found the bottom of the net at the buzzer, to get the Pioneers a hard-fought victory.
Cody Schneider (Belmont, NY / Genesee Valley) and Dylan Perry (Kingston, NY / Kingston) were key contributors for Alfred State today. Schneider tallied a double-double on the night. He had 21 points and tallied 10 blocks, he was a force on both sides of the ball through the entire game. Schneider fouled out with a three minutes remaining, barely missing a triple-double with eight assists and five boards. Perry was the game's leading scorer with 23. He went 5-11 from three, knocking down three baskets in a row which helped fuel the Alfred State second half run.
The Pioneer team is back in action on December 10, when they travel to Keystone for a 3 p.m. matchup.
