Pioneers Lose Close OT Game

The Alfred State Men's Basketball team fell today in a conference contest against Mt. Aloysius 97-96. In an overtime contest where both teams made over 30 field goals was back-and-forth throughout.

A neck-and-neck first half led with the Pioneers gaining an early lead and holding it for the first ten minutes of the half. The Mounties went on a run, tying the game at 21. The game stayed closed through the rest of the half, as the teams headed into the locker room tied at 41.

The second half was just as close, with both teams trading leads. The Pioneers fell behind with 1:17 left, before Dylan Perry hit a three with 56 seconds left to tie the game at 84 and send it to overtime.

In overtime, the Pioneers took an early five-point lead, 96-91. Back-to-back threes for Mt. Aloysius in under a minute gave the Mounties the lead and the win.

Some standouts for the Pioneers include:

Cody Schneider (Belmont, NY / Genesee Valley): Schneider had a season high 32 points on 10 made field goals. Schneider made four three's and tallied 12 boards for another double-double.

Dylan Perry (Kingston, NY / Kingston): Perry had 12 points for the Pioneers with a crucial last-minute three pointer to force OT. Perry made his presence felt on the defensive end, tallying 5 steals on the game.

The Pioneers are back in action against Penn.- St. Behrend at home on Wednesday, February 15.
