Pioneers Earn All-Conference Honors in 12 Events

The Alfred State men's swimming & diving team earned All-AMCC honors in 12 events. A total of seven different athletes earned honors after their performances at last week's championships. 

Austin Miller (Hornell) was named the AMCC Diver of the Year for the second straight year after taking the conference title on the 1m and 3m boards. He scored 407.00 on the 1m and 421.85 on the 3m board. Both efforts led him to 1st team All-AMCC honors as well.

Ethan Dale (Lock Haven) capped his four-year career at Alfred State with 1st team honors in the 400 IM (4:15.09) and 2nd team honors in the 200 fly (1:59.35). He was also part of the 1st team 400 medley relay team (1:34.87) and the 200 medley realy team (3:31.36). In each of those relays he teamed with Westin Perry (Canisteo Greenwood), Nate Miller (Gananda), and Matt Walker (Kenmore West). In the 800 free relay he teamed with Walker, Perry, and Anthony Kahwaty (Jefferson Township, NJ) to swim to a 2nd place finish in 7:17.89.

Perry swam to 1st team All-AMCC honors in the 100 back (52.19) while Stuart Yates (Naples) swam to 1st team honors in the 100 breast (1:00.14). Perry and Yates were also both on the 400 free relay team that finished 2nd in 3:13.80. Joining them was Miller and Walker.

Walker earned a pair of 2nd team All-AMCC individual honors in the 400 IM (4:18.54) and the 200 breast (2:11.84). Miller swam to 2nd team All-AMCC honors in the 100 fly with a swim of 53.00.

As a team the Pioneers finished 2nd in the AMCC for the third time in the three years that Alfred State has competed in the AMCC.

First year head coach Mike Smiechowski was honored by his peers by being named the AMCC Coach of the Year.
