Pioneers Finish Day Two of MCC Winter Invite

The Alfred State swimming team has completed the first two days of the Monroe CC Winter Invitational.  The Pioneer men are in 5th while the women are in 8th.

Casey Hopkins (Hamburg) has led the Pioneers.  He finished 2nd in the 100 back (59.61) and was part of two scoring relays.  He swam the anchor of the 200 free relay that finished 4th (1:38.31) and the 400 medley relay (4:24.17) that finished 6th.  In both relays he teammed with Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford), Josh Stellrecht (Oakfield Alabama), and Alex Ciolek (Orchard Park).

Sporysz finished 5th in the 100 fly (1:04.79) and Stellrecht was 8th in the 500 free (5:43.82).

On the women's side, Danielle Roberts (Lockport) finished 6th in the 100 fly (1:20.72) and 7th in the 50 free (29.02).  Maggie McBurney (Jamesville Dewitt) was 6th in the 400 IM (6:21.81) and 9th in the 500 free (6:57.13).

The men's team has scored 102 points and sits in 5th place while the women have scored 33. Oswego leads both the men's and women's competition.

Day three action begins at 9 a.m. tomorrow with prelimins and concludes with the finals at 3:30 p.m.
