Pioneer Men Down Wells

The Alfred State men's swimming team earned a 75-59 victory over Wells College on Tuesday evening.  The win was the first in program history over a NCAA Division III school.  The Lady Express defeated the Lady Pioneers 124-23.

The Pioneers earned pivotal points in both of the relays.  The relay team of Josh Stellrecht (Oakfield Alabama), Jacob Drew (Victor), Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford), and Alex Ciolek (Orchard Park) won the 200 medley in 2:00.19 and the 200 free relay in 1:44.39.

Stellrecht was a double individual winner taking home 1st in the 1,000 free (12:03.55) and the 500 free (5:44.75).  Ciolek won the 100 back in 1:06.17.  Sporysz was 2nd in the 50 free (24.53) and in the 100 fly (1:04.29), Drew was 2nd in the 200 IM (2:31.63) and was 2nd in the 100 back (1:10.44), and John Buyea (Akron) was 2nd in the 100 breast (1:24.14).

Danielle Roberts (Lockport) won the 100 butterfly in 1:17.19 and was 2nd in the 50 free (28.61). Sabrina Dunning (Cuba Rushford) was 2nd in the 100 back (1:16.22).

The Pioneers are back in action on February 8 when they compete in the Geneseo Invitational
