Pioneer Men Win Jamestown Invite, Women 3rd

The Alfred State men's swimming team won the overall title at the Jamestown CC Invitational on Saturday with 316 points.  The women's team was 3rd with 68 points on the day.

Casey Hopkins (Hamburg) was a triple winner on the day.  He won the 50 free (24.05), the 100 free (53.40), and the 100 back (1:01.71).  Josh Stellrecht (Oakfield Alabama) won twice winning the 1650 free (20:04.01) and the 500 free (5:50.00).  Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford) won the 100 butterfly (1:07.24).

Jacob Drew (Victor) and John Buyea (Akron) tied for 2nd in the 200 IM (2:28.78)

The men's 200 free relay team (Sporysz, Stellrecht, Alex Ciolek - Orchard Park, and Hopkins) and won in 1:39.70. while the 400 free relay team (Sporysz, Stellrecht, Ciolek, & Hopkins) won in 3:54.81)

Maggie McBurney (Jamesville Dewitt) was 2nd in the 500 free (6:54.74) while Danielle Roberts (Lockport) was 3rd in the 50 free (28.64), 3rd in the 100 free (1:02.32).

The Pioneers are back in action on January 11th when they host Monroe CC in a dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
