Thomas and Chambers Qualify for ECAC's
Josiah Thomas (Rochester/John Marshall) and Desmond Chambers (Rochester/Gates Chili) qualified for the ECAC Championships with winning jumps at the RIT Invitational. The non-scoring meet featured over a dozen schools.
Thomas won the triple jump competition with a leap of 13.60 m. He also finished 6th in the long jump (6.46 m). Chambers leaped 7.14 m to claim the top spot in the long jump competition. With their peformances, the duo will now compete at the ECAC Championships March 7 & 8 in Boston, MA.
Thomas and Chambers were also part of the 4x200 relay team that finished 3rd in 1:35.46. Joining their team was Jordan Friedman (Clarkstown South), and Zach Woodard (S. Jefferson). Friedman also earned a 8th place finish in the pole vault after clearing a height of 4.10 m.
Dayonna Holmes (Rochester/Charlotte) led the women's team with a 3rd place finish in the 200 m. She crossed the finish line in 27.94.
Holmes also helped the 4x200 relay team to a 7th place finish (1:55.91). Holmes ran with Madison McDonald (Lansing), Annaliese Corrao (Grand Island), and Billie Carroll (Rochester/Edison).
The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday when they travel to the Hamilton Invitational.
