Pioneer Track Competes at Geneseo

John Adewumi (Brooklyn, NJ) and Dayonna Holmes (Rochester/Charlotte) led the Alfred State track & field as they competed at the Geneseo Invitational on Saturday.  

Adewumi won the triple jump competition with a leap of 12.89 m and was 4th in the 100 m (11.67).  He also teamed with Kyle Jones (Wilson), Zach Woodard (South Jefferson), and Desmond Chambers (Rochester/Gates Chili) to win the 4x100 relay in 43.45.

Holmes won the 200 m in 27.20 to lead the women's team.  Holmes also was part of the 3rd place 4x100 relay team that finished 3rd.  In the 4x100 she teamed with Brianna Brynes (Jordan Elbridge), Sarah Wise (Avoca), and Madison McDonald (Lansing).

Nate Andres (Pioneer) was 3rd in the 400 (51.57), Jordan Friedman (Clarkstown South) was 3rd in the pole vault (4.26 m), James Westman (Fonda Fultonville) was 4th in the steeplechase (10:58.57), and Woodard was 4th in the 200 (23.10) and 8th in the 100 (11.86).

Trevor Stiles (Hornell) was 5th in the 400  hurdles (1:01.44), Leandro DelRosario (Brooklyn/Thomas Edison) was 5th in the shot put (13.19 m), Logan Phillips (Genesee Valley) was 6th in the 400 hurdles (1:03.51), Ryan Seward (Pembroke) was 6th in the javelin (39.44 m), Andrew Jones (Milford) was 8th in the hammer throw (41.01 m), and Wesley Hayes (North Rose Wolcott) was 8th in the shot put (12.24 m)

Other top performances on the women's side included: Jen DeNovio (Guilderland) was 6th in the javelin (25.33 m), Brynes was 10th in the 800 m (2:39.13), and the 4x400 relay was 3rd (4:43.60).

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday when they travel to the University of Rochester Invitational
