Pioneers Compete at Ithaca

The Alfred State indoor track & field team had another strong showing at Ithaca College on Friday night.  The Pioneers competed vs. Ithaca, Cornell, Cobleskill, and Cortland.

The women's 4x400 relay team led the way with a 1st place finish.  Annaliese Corrao (Grand Island), Dayonna Holmes (Rochester/Charlotte), Brianna Brynes (Jordan Elbridge), and Madison McDonald (Lansing) won in 4:26.54.

Holmes was 2nd in the 60 m (8.27) and is now 3rd all-time in Alfred State history.  McDonald was 5th in the 60 m (8.69), Corrao was 6th in the 60 m hurdles (10.74), and Sarah Wise (Avoca) was 6th in the high jump (1.27 m).  Molly Dempsey (Wellsville) moved up to 9th all-time in the 1 mile with a time of 5:54.97.

On the men's side the 4x400 relay team finished 2nd.  Trevor Stiles (Hornell), Jordan Friedman (Clarkstown South), Zach Woodard (South Jefferson), and Logan Phillips (Genesee Valley) finished in 3:36.10.

Josiah Thomas (Rochester/John Marshall) was 3rd in the triple jump (13.72 m), James Westman (Fonda Fultonville) was 3rd in the 3,000 m (9:58.88), and Friedman was 4th in the pole vault (3.95 m).  Stiles was 6th in the 800 m (2:07.41), Woodard was 7th in the 60 m (7.31), and Steven Campbell (Chenango Valley) was 7th in the weight throw (12.11 m).

The Pioneers have next weekend off but return to action on Feb. 21 at the RIT Invitational.
