Pioneers Remain in Hunt

The Alfred State women's swimming & diving team remained in 2nd place and within striking distance of top honors on day three of the Allegheny Empire Championships. The Pioneers will enter the final day trailing by only 11 points.

Mikaela Snayczuk (Pioneer) was 4th in the 100 breast (1:09.64) while Payton Armstrong (Highland Mills/Monroe Woodbury) was 7th in the 100 back (1:05.82). Both finishes were top marks in the AMCC competition.

Kelsey Lynch (Wellsville) was 11th in the 200 fly (2:37.54) while Elizabeth Jurs (Elba) was 12th (2:56.88).

The 800 free relay team of Snayczuk, Alina Kisluk (Hamburg), Armstrong, and Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) finished in 5th in 8:33.45.

The women's team has scored 375 points and trails Penn State Behrend by 11 in the AMCC standings. They sit in 5th out of 10 teams in the overall standings as well with 551 points.

Final day action begins at 10 a.m. with preliminaries, 3 m diving for the women starts at 1 p.m., and the finals start at 5:30 p.m. at the Webster Aquatic Center.
